The beaches described below are chosen for their variety, this is by no means an exhaustive list. If you just want a walk by the sea, there are plenty of cliff walks on north Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula.
Dinas Dinlle – 12 miles from Graianfryn
This is our nearest beach, taking 20 minutes to reach by car, plenty of free parking. There is a long expanse of sand, backed by shingle and pebbles, good for swimming. Caernarfon Airport is at the far end, from where you can take a pleasure flight over Snowdonia.
Llanddwyn, Newborough, Anglesey – 14 miles
A lovely sandy beach (see photo), stretching three miles and backed by sand dunes and forestry. There are superb views of Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula. You can walk the length of the beach and over to Llanddwyn Island, separated by a narrow channel at high tide. There is a charge for vehicular access.
North Shore, Llandudno – 25 miles
Llandudno is a traditional British seaside resort, featuring sandy beaches, Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. A wide promenade runs the length of the beach with elegant Victorian houses and hotels facing the sea. The town nestles beneath the Great Orme (675ft/200m in height). You can walk, take the cable car or ride up via the Victorian tramway.
Benllech, Anglesey – 15 miles
Benllech is a small village on Anglesey’s east coast with a sandy beach. There are some amusements for children in summer (trampolines and donkey rides) but few other commercial facilities.
Aberffraw, Anglesey – 18 miles
A wide, flat, sandy beach separated from the road by a vast expanse of sand dunes. Distance from road to beach is almost a mile along the Ffraw Estuary.
Cable Bay, Anglesey – 20 miles
This is a lovely small sandy sheltered bay, great for swimming. It was the eastern terminus of the long-abandoned telegraphic cable service to Ireland
